Jenny Lind's First Concert in Boston.
BOSTON, Saturday, Sept. 28.
Notwithstanding the storm last night, the Temple was thronged to hear Mlle. Jenny Lind. The heaviness of tbe atmosphere and the bad construction of the Hall for such exhibitions, were obstacles against which none but the great Songstress herself could have successfully contended. Her reception, though it would have been called cold in New-York, was yet quite enthusiastic for a Boston audience; and, as they were warmed up by the exhibition of her unequaled powers, plaudits continued to increase, till, at the close of the Echo Song, the Hall rang with continued cheering.
There was a great crowd around the Temple during the entire performance, notwithstanding the severe storm. The building was illuminated with Drummond's light, and in front of the Tremont House were jets of gas in the form of briliant stars. It was nearly midnight before the last of the carriages, extending in a line for nearly half a mile, left the Temple. There were probably near 1 000 ladies among the audience.

Trotz des Sturms gestern Abend war der Temple voll besetzt, um Mlle. Jenny Lind zu hören. Die Schwere der Atmosphäre und die schlechte Konstruktion der Halle für solche Veranstaltungen waren Hindernisse, gegen die niemand außer der großen Sängerin selbst erfolgreich hätte ankämpfen können. Obwohl ihr Empfang in New York als kalt bezeichnet worden wäre, war er für ein Bostoner Publikum doch recht enthusiastisch; und je mehr sich das Publikum durch die Vorführung ihrer unvergleichlichen Fähigkeiten erwärmte, desto größer wurde der Beifall, bis am Ende des Echo-Songs der Saal von anhaltendem Jubel erfüllt war.
Trotz des heftigen Sturms herrschte während der gesamten Aufführung ein großes Gedränge um den Tempel. Das Gebäude war mit Drummonds Licht beleuchtet, und vor dem Tremont House waren Gasfontänen in Form von leuchtenden Sternen zu sehen. Es war fast Mitternacht, als die letzten Kutschen, die sich in einer Reihe über fast eine halbe Meile erstreckten, den Temple verließen. Unter den Zuschauern befanden sich wahrscheinlich fast 1 000 Damen.
