The new start at Bluesky

Twitter. In the end.

Shortly I will delete my account on Twitter.I'll request an archive one last time, then I'll delete my account from Twitter, like so many others before me.

I wrote my first tweet on Feb, 24. 2009. 14 years and about 107,000 tweets have passed. Tweeting has led to real lasting friendships, great meetings here in my hometown of Wuppertal, an appearance on WDR Lokalzeit. I've been able to network with wonderful people all over the world, and in the last four years I've managed to remove most of the hate from my timeline by muting and blocking.

If you work a lot in a home office like I do, a good, active social network is like a second home to you. For those who haven't actively participated in the thick of it, it's hard to understand. I discussed English soccer with the brother of "Captain Picard" Patrick Stewart and was able to exchange ideas with people around the world and here in the Valley that I would never meet in real life.

It was a great time. Once, yes there I even made a book from my tweets. Edition of 5.

That's all over now. The end. End. Out.

For humanism

For humanity

That's what I stand for.But not the, now since 2022 acting landlord of Twitter (tweeting). He stands for hate, incitement, divisiveness, inhumanity, contempt and much more.Twitter has already been little of what it was in the 2010s.Appreciative communication, even interaction. More and more absent. Then Twitter became X and with the beautiful blue bird the feeling of still being part of something good disappeared.Especially where the X is such a negative symbol, and stands for so many bad things. How do you say something out-Xen? (Difficult to translate)

And when the owner of the house invitingly holds the door open for the brown cohorts, then it's time to go. I waited quite a long time, but after Elon Musk shared and spread right-wing tweets several times, it was finally over. But, in the end, it wasn't fun anymore, because there was no interaction.

The alternative Mastodon and its UI language, the orga behind it, that didn't really appeal to me.So I waited - probably like many.

So now Bluesky. The sound is strikingly good in my little bubble, which I quickly re-knitted from my followers.I wonder if it will stay that way. What the owner will make of Bluesky?- It's all unclear at the moment.

What is clear is that in the last three days I've seen more appreciative interaction than I did in all of 2023. A good start, I think.

In 8 days I will receive my first Invite-Code. Anyone who wants one is welcome to write to me at thomas@cronhill.de.

What remains to be done?

The Twitter share button will disappear soon. Bluesky will take its place.
