Both had the same sensations at the first fleeting glance, which, however, slipped over the second observer, so to speak. If one had let him hold on to each of these sensual perceptions longer in peace, he would slowly have come as far as the other did at the first glance. Thus the intellectually acquired ideas of the one would have been grasped by the other as well as the immediate ideas.
